Staggered trusses designs
This residential development includes 260 luxury apartments in White Plains, New York. The main plaza area incorporates a lavishly landscaped garden, which relates to the city park directly across the street, and a resort-style outdoor heated swimming pool. Upper-level penthouse units have large balconies and high, ten-foot loft ceilings. Steel Trusses and Plank floors frame the residential part of the project; steel, metal deck and poured concrete, frame the parking levels. Staggered Trusses were found to align with the demising walls between apartments and easily frame the double loaded corridors. The large column free spaces resulting from staggered trusses eliminated most transfer girders. The structural design used light weight steel (8 psf). Enclosing a building with light gage walls also provided fast erection and overall economy.
