One Exchange Place is existing 10-story tower in Jersey City that is being converted to a Marriott luxury hotel, with a public restaurant and skyline viewing area at the top. Three floors are being added at the top of the existing structure connecting with a new large 13 story horizontal addition and approximately 240,000 sq. ft.
One Exchange Place, which once housed a restaurant on the ground floor, closed almost entirely last April after the lobby ceiling collapsed. The structure’s interior was very dilapidated.
Innovation and creativity, as well as knowledge of historical construction methods were key for the selection of Wexler Associates to be the engineer of record for the building. The design of the building is being done in BIM using Revit structure for 3D modeling and clash detection. The construction phase is being done using IPD (integrated project delivery).
