The Langston

The Langston, located near historic Hamilton Heights at 68 Bradhurst Avenue, Central Harlem NY, includes approximately 300,000 square feet of space. The Langston, named after Langston Hughes, the Harlem Renaissance-era poet is the first luxury, full-service condominium in Hamilton Heights. The Langston is 10 stories high with 180 units including two and three bedroom apartments, as well as thirteen penthouse duplexes. This mixed-use project features 37,000 sq. ft. of ground floor retail space and a parking garage for approximately 80 cars.

The third floor acts as a podium that supports the entire building above (7 floors). This transition was accomplished with large transfer girders. Steel framing was used in the commercial and parking areas, and the residential areas were built with masonry bearing walls and plank floors. The foundation consisted of piles drilled to bedrock. Special amenities such as truck loadingdocks for retail and terraces were easily accommodated.
