The Bowery

The Bowery is a unique building because of its small and irregular floor plan, but large (16’) floor to floor height. The building was originally designed with moment frames by others and skewed girder to column moment connections. All columns were used in the lateral system. The building was designed and constructed using BIM. Even though the building was redesigned, using BIM helped in saving valuable time and eliminated delays to the planned schedule of construction.

Wexler Associates services for the Bowery included the following:

•Structural Redesign
•3D Modeling
•3D Detailing
•Preparation of structural stability and demolition plans
•Support of Excavation Design
•Special Pile Design for NYC Transit Authority
