The Oliver House is an 8-story, 48 unit multi-family building located in 346 Smith Street, Brooklyn, NY. The structure consists of a steel, composite metal and concrete deck structure and is supported on a subway tunnel. The main corner of this building, which sits on top of the Smith Street entrance of the “F” train, was dually designed to be bold enough to mark itself as the entryway to this train stop as well as retain its residential character in relation to the rest of the building.More that 75% of the building area (approximately 90,000 Sq. ft.) is located over a subway station and is supported on the original subway foundation with seismic isolators. The piles are only located on one sideof the building. A very complex foundation was developed and approved by the NYC Transit.
