This new performing arts building includes a black box theatre, musical and dramatic rehearsal spaces as well as faculty offices. The mixed-use program presented a need for significant acoustical separation. Wexler Associates responsibilities as the Structural Engineer included the design of the superstructure and foundation (The building was framed with structural steel, chosen because of the need for large spaces, flexibility and ease of construction. The building was supported on strip footings and mats), the design of various lattice structures for exposed ceilings, light supports and stage constructions, preparation of structural drawings and specifications, the review of shop drawings and the preparation of sketches and procedures for field construction.
